My Vintage Wedding

There are a few special projects that I plan on incorporating into our wedding that I hope will  work out.

Our Cute Save the Dates

These are our DIY save the dates!!!  I absolutely love them.  They have nothing to do with our theme, but I think they get straight to the point and will give folks a smile...mission accomplished.

I simply used scrapbooking paper to make sort of an inner card/envelope for the actual card save the date.  They are being placed in velum envelopes and will be sent with adhesive magnets so that folks can put the cards on their fridge if they wish.

Please ignore the coupons I used to cover my dining room table with...considering our budget, I should have been putting them to some other use :-D

Our Invites...the Final Decision!

Picture
So after some long debating, I finally decided to hire someone to do our invitations.  Kate at OhSoSuite, will be designing our invites (and printing them).  They will be similar to the invites here, with a vintage postcard RSVP of Glen Echo Park.  Our invites will be digitally printed rather than letterpress, which saves a TON of money.

Update: Invites are in.  After a long period of time and a lot of drama, I finally got them in.  They look great, but I would not recommend this vendor.

Our Broom!

Picture
I made this myself with a broom, ribbon and flowers from Micheal's.  We will be jumping the broom after our ceremony, an African American (as well as other cultures) tradition symbolizing the coming from the past, over the present with a leap into the future.

Will you be my Bridesmaid?...Puhlease :)

My first official wedding project was asking my BMs to be my BMs.  I printed out pictures of my bridesmaids and cut their heads out.  I then took a cut out of a girl in a bridesmaid dress from a magazine and glued their head on top of the picture.  I got some photo cards from Target and some scrapbooking stickers and wrote a personal message to each of them on the inside.  Very simple, but a big hit!

Our Photogenic Table Numbers

We originally planned to use vintage Blue Note album covers as our table numbers...but a trip to the National Museum American History gave me the lovely idea of using images from the Scurlock exhibit as our table numbers.  They are festive, beautiful photos taken of the black elite spanning the 20's through the 50s

I photo shopped table numbers and portrait titles...put them in gold frames and "voila!" table numbers!

More Fun Stuff

Um...Where are we going...?

So, I saw this on a blog and thought it was SO something we would do and very hilarious.  So, I plan to make something like this to point folks in the right direction :)

Photobooth Craze

Our original plan was to have a polaroid guest book/photo booth area where our guests can take a picture of them self and then put it in the guest book along with a little note to us.  Since then, however, we have decided to nix the polaroids.  We got concerned with folks taking too many pictures of themselves and us running out of film and other confusing issues/things that may go array.

We are still going to have our photo guest book.  With the photobooth, you get a print out of 4 pictures on a 4x6 postcard.  The guests will cut the picture in half and place the top two pictures inside of the guest book and put a message/note to us next to the picture.  They can then keep the bottom half of the print out as a favor.  We are totally excited, especially considering the fact that an attendant comes with the booth and we do not have to worry about things going right!  YAY!

In Loving Memory

I plan to do these candles with missed loved ones from both families instead of doing the unity candle ceremony.

I changed these a bit and decided to print the images on labels and adhere them to the pillars instead of using paper.  I am hoping they will light up from the inside nicely and give sort of a glow.

Escort Cards

Due to a wedding reception that is semi-outside, the wind makes it pretty impossible to have paper escort cards as they may fly away.  So below is my ideas on the escort cards.  I found this idea from another Knottie where she made mini-envelopes and addressed the names in advance and inserted the table numbers once she had the seating arrangements determined.  This allowed her to be able to make adjustments, if neccesary, at the last minute.  I love this idea because I am a very busy person and want to get as many projects done when I can as soon as possible.  I am combining the mini-envelopes with an idea I saw on this blog.  Using ribbon, I will pin the cards to large frames and display them at the reception cite.
