My Vintage Wedding

Por Homme

Kevin wants to look good on our day, but we have not really figured out what that means.  I am leaning towards a suit like this because it is HOT and very vintage!  We shall see...

For the male groom attendants we are doing gray suits with purple ties and purple shirts.  There is one female on his side that will be wearing a dress and I will just give her the same instructions as I do my bridesmaids, except her dress will be purple to match the guys.

UPDATE:

So Kevin is actually ordering the suit IN THIS PICTURE!!!  AAAHHHH!!!!  I love it!  And the price is soo totally right.  Granted the designer is in Portland (basically across the other side of the earth to us) but they will make the suit based on his measurements and then ship it to him.  If it needs further tailoring, he will just get that done locally.  Thank you, Duchess Clothier!

My Original Dress

This was my original dress.  It's Pronovias Regalitz.  It is a silk muslin gown with beading on the bodice, a-line empire waist.  It is not what I expected I would wear as my wedding dress.  I was conflicted about the dress although I absolutely loved it.  The beading and the fabric of the dress is absolutely gorgeous...and although this gown is amazing, it just is not the one for me.

I held onto this gown until my first alterations appointment.  I thought about wearing it for the ceremony only, so she pinned it the way I wanted it to fit.  It was a "go" for a while...until I put on the other dress and Angie gasped.  So, sadly, I am not wearing this dress and will be taking it to the same consignment shop I am sold my other other gown at.

See image below...

My Second Dress?

Sooo...I am very impatient.  As much as I loved my original dress, I was unsure about whether or not it would look good on me.  Instead of heeding the advice of my fiance, my co-workers, the ladies on the knot and my friends...I bought a second dress before my first one has even come in.

I have since sold this dress at a consignment shop.  I am glad that another bride will love it...more than I did.

The Third Time is the Charm...Right?

Picture
After going through two dresses and realizing that I am 1) out of my mind, 2) indecisive as all hell, 3) impatient as all hell...I realized that both of my options were not going to work out.  I finally went somewhere, had someone ask me questions about what I want to look like and help me try on different shapes for my body type.

I realized the reasons why neither of the 2 first gowns would work...
1) over the shoulder straps make my shoulders look too broad,
2) a straight bust line makes me look matronly and
3) an ill-defined or no waist does nothing to minimize my stomach.

After doing a better job at researching and trying on more gowns, I found Isadora...my new best friend.  I ordered her through netbride.com because after going through 2 dresses, I was not about to spend full retail price on another.

Yup!!!  This is it!!  This is THE ONE!  Below are a few picks from when I first got it.  The dress fits like a glove, but I wanted to change the back to cris-crossed straps for more comfort.  Check it out :-D

Here Comes the...Bridesmaids!

Or rather, the Brides Attendants (long story).  So I have decided on the BM (and GM...) dresses!  They will pick adress from Bari-Jay.  The dresses are all floor length, chiffon and sage for the BMs and Wisteria for the GM (that stands for Groom's Maid...not men).  I wanted them to feel comfortable and happy with the gown that they wear.

Below are their choices, they look absolutely fantastic!  I am so glad I decided to go this route because I feel as though each dress really shows their personality.  So Cool!

These are a Few of My
Favorite Things...

The one...

The first pair of shoes I purchased were too green...the second pair, too big...well these fantabulously bohemian chic heels are just right!

Something to carry all my crap!

I love this purse that I specially requested from Angee W.  I love how it brings in our purple wedding color, the broach is detachable and I can wear it again after the wedding...and just how darn cute and awesome it is!

Hair and Makeup

This is a picture of me at my final hair and makeup trial.  I bought all of my accessories so that I could see how well everything went together and I am a very very happy bride to be!

Below are a few more pics from my trial.  We experimented with red lipstick, but I like the lighter color better.  I also tried out different veils and hair peices.  The last two images are from my previous hair trial.

Veil Options

For Me :)

I purchased this GORGEOUS flower from etsy seller brenda's bridal veils.  I just think it will be gorgeous no matter which dress I wear!

For the BMs  :)

I purchased these for my BMs.  They are really cute and pretty reasonably priced at Forever 21.  They will wear the cream one and just get the black one as an extra special treat.
